On September 23, the signing ceremony for the photovoltaic project between Huge Group and the Aurora Pacific Economic Zone and Freeport Authority (APECO) was successfully held in Quezon City, Philippines. APECO President and Chief Executive Officer Usec. Gil G. Taway IV, Huge Group Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Lai Hongze, and Dong-A Global Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Ik Soo Kwon attended the signing ceremony. Representatives of the three parties gathered to witness this significant partnership in the field of green energy in the Philippines.

The agreement aims to develop a large-scale renewable energy project in the economic zone located in Casiguran, featuring a high-capacity substation and a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), with a total planned capacity of up to 1 GW. The Aurora Pacific Economic Zone is endowed with abundant natural resources and favorable conditions for renewable energy development. APECO has long been committed to improving regional infrastructure, fostering local industries, empowering Indigenous communities, creating sustainable employment opportunities, and promoting the sustainable economic and social development of the economic zone. These objectives are highly aligned with Huge Groups global approach to green investment, which seeks to balance commercial value with local social responsibility, providing a solid foundation for this photovoltaic project partnership.

According to the agreement, Phase I will focus on the development of solar photovoltaic power generation facilities and a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), with an initial target installed capacity of approximately 100 MW. In Phase II, Huge Gropu plans to add 350 MW of generation capacity through a combination of solar power and waste-to-energy technologies. Phase III is planned to add a further 550 MW of installed capacity.

Taway IV. Once completed, the photovoltaic project will provide the Aurora Pacific Economic Zone with stable, cost-effective and clean electricity, helping to reduce the zone’s overall energy costs. Throughout the entire project lifecycle, from construction to subsequent operation, Huge Group will prioritize the employment of local workers, foster the development of local supply chains, and create long-term and stable employment opportunities for local communities. The company will also continue to support capacity building among Indigenous communities and fulfill its commitment to sustainable development.

Huge Group stated that it places great importance on this strategic partnership and will commit advanced technologies, sufficient capital, and a professional management team to ensure the safe and efficient implementation of the project. Throughout the project, the company will strictly comply with applicable Philippine environmental regulations while fully respecting the local culture of Aurora and the legitimate rights and interests of Indigenous communities. Huge Group aims to develop the project into a benchmark green energy cooperation project within a Philippine economic zone.

Standing at this new starting point for cooperation, the two parties plan to use the photovoltaic project as a foundation to further deepen multidimensional cooperation in clean energy and explore opportunities in emerging areas such as energy storage and microgrids. Together, they aim to develop the Aurora Pacific Economic Zone into a model for green and low-carbon development in the Philippines.Looking ahead, Huge Group will continue to increase its investment in the Southeast Asian renewable energy market, leveraging its proven photovoltaic and energy storage technologies as well as its extensive project development and operational experience to support the region’s transition toward a cleaner and more sustainable energy future.
